16 YEARS since this woman took pity on me

admin, April 24, 2025

Posted November 22, 2024 – Y’all ain’t gonna believe this, but it’s been 16 YEARS since this woman took pity on me and said “I do.” Sixteen years ago today, up in snowy Gatlinburg, with the Dollywood lights twinkling, Debbie Burnette made me the luckiest man alive. Little did I know, that ‘yes’ would lead to a lifetime of adventures, laughter, and memories that I’m still tryin’ to wrap my head around!

Sixteen years of adventures, y’all. We’re talking enough memories to fill a dozen photo albums and enough laughter to drown out a thunderstorm. Debbie, you’re the sunshine on a cloudy day, the biscuits and gravy after a long night, the punchline to my favorite joke.

Y’all, I’m telling you – if there’s a luckier man in Georgia or Tennessee, I sure haven’t met him!

Debbie, You’re the melody that fills my heart with joy, the rhythm that makes me wanna dance, and the harmony that brings balance to my crazy life. You’re my partner in every sense of the word, my best friend, and my soulmate.

Today, as we celebrate 16 years of this wonderful journey, I’m on my knees thanking God for His perfect timing and infinite wisdom in bringing us together. And while I’m at it, I’m putting in my order for at least 16 more years of adventures with the most beautiful, loving, and remarkable woman I’ve ever known.

Lord knows I don’t say it enough, but thank you, darlin’. Thank you for every smile, every hug, every adventure. And thank you, Lord, for blessing me with a woman who makes every day feel like we’re still honeymooning in the Smokies. I pray that You’ll continue to bless us with many more years of love, laughter, and adventure. Sixteen more, Lord? That’d be a mighty fine start!

So on this special day, I want to say thank you, Debbie, for bein’ my rock, my confidante, and my everything. I love you more today than I did 16 years ago, and I don’t know how that’s possible, but it’s the honest truth. Here’s to many more years of makin’ memories, laughin’ together, and explorin’ this crazy world side by side!

Our New Administration

April 24, 2025

Posted February 11, 2025 – My good friend—a fine school teacher, mind you—just put up a Facebook post that got me thinkin’. He’s talkin’ about how the new administration startin’ in 2025 is plannin’ to “rule” instead of govern. But, truth be told, what he’s describin’ sounds an awful lot…

To Fred – Till we meet again, partner. Tight lines.

April 25, 2025

Well, heaven’s got ‘em a good one now.  My old friend Fred Harget left us yesterday, and if there’s any justice in the hereafter, Saint Peter’s already handed him a rod and reel and pointed him toward the best fishing hole up yonder. Back in the ‘70s, there wasn’t a…

What Happens to the Wealth of “Rich People”?

April 24, 2025

Facebook Post Sept 4, 2024 – I want to share some thoughts with you that I hope will challenge some long-held assumptions about wealth and government. For years, Democratic politicians have painted a picture of “Rich People” as greedy and selfish. They argue for bigger government and higher taxes, promising…
