Posted January 8, 2024 – Y’all, let’s take a moment to chew on the recent shake-up over at Meta and what it says about the past 8 years of their “fact-checking” business. Well, I’ll tell you what, folks, seems like ol’ Zuck’s done seen the light! Maybe that California sun was finally gettin’ to him, but bless his heart, he’s movin’ Meta on down to Texas and promisin’ to let us speak our minds again. Now, I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I gotta ask: what took ’em so long?
Remember when they shut down perfectly good discussions about COVID-19’s origins? Bless their hearts, they thought they were protecting us from “misinformation,” but ended up keeping us from the truth instead. Now, I ain’t one to say “I told you so,” but… WE TOLD YOU SO! The Free Press has been hollerin’ about this Big Tech censorship for years. It’s about time somebody up in Silicon Valley started listenin’ to us folks down here in the real world.
Let’s get real, y’all. The old policies from the last 8 years were a mighty big problem. They were so busy tryin’ to manage the narrative, they forgot about the First Amendment. And let me tell you, it did some harm. Good people were misled, and bad ideas were allowed to spread like wildfire.
The damage done? Lord have mercy. Think about all the conversations silenced, the information buried deeper than my grandma’s secret peach cobbler recipe. How many Americans got led down the garden path because some California fact-checker decided what we could and couldn’t see?
This whole “fact-checking” business? More like “fact-fudging” if you ask me. Too much power in the hands of folks who think they know better than the rest of us. It’s like tryin’ to herd cats with a fly swatter, just ain’t natural. They’ve been callin’ the shots, decidin’ what we can and can’t see, even goin’ so far as to slap “fake news” stickers on stuff that didn’t deserve ’em. Heck, they even stifled a story ’bout that darned virus coming from a lab in Wuhan. I mean, come on now!
But here’s the thing, friends. We can’t just say, ‘Oh, ain’t it purty up here on the mountaintop now,’ and forget about the eight-year hike through the valley of the shadow of tech’s double standards. folks deserve to know what harm was done, and they deserve an apology for bein’ led astray by those biased ‘fact-checkers.’
It’s like havin’ a truck run ya off the road, then seein’ the driver wave and say, ‘Y’all drive safe now!’ We ain’t forgettin’ the bumps and bruises that easy, are we?
But I’ll give ’em this – they did say they were gonna move their ‘trust and safety’ team to Texas. Now, if that ain’t a redneck revival, I don’t know what is!
The good Lord gave us a voice, and the Constitution guarantees our right to use it. These here changes are a win for free speech, a win for common sense, and a win for America. But like a good hound dog after a fox, we gotta keep our noses to the ground and make sure they stick to their word.
So, to all my fellow Americans out there, I say this: let’s keep on keepin’ on. Let’s keep on fightin’ for what’s right, and let’s make sure we hold our leaders accountable for their actions. We owe it to ourselves, our children, and our country. Let’s keep hold of our freedoms, stand tall for our Constitution, and fight for our families – even with a new sheriff in town. We can’t just put our feet up and expect him to do all the heavy liftin’. We’ve gotta have his back, stay sharp, and keep on fightin’!
So here’s to you, good folks—let’s raise our glasses to vigilance and a return to common sense!
Y’all remember, eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. So let’s keep fightin’ the good fight, supportin’ our President, and keepin’ America great. After all, honesty’s the best policy, ain’t that the truth? And to Mark Zuckerberg and the fine folks at Meta, I say this: welcome back to the land of the free and the home of the brave. We’re glad to have you on board. Now, let’s get to work and make sure our country stays a place where free speech is cherished and protected. And if you see ol’ Zuck down there in Texas, offer him a glass of sweet tea and tell him Dean sent ya.
Dean Burnette, keeping it real in the heart of Dixie.
